A band "associate" is an individual who is taking lessons with a band instructor, playing with the band with the intent of applying for membership, a parent or friend of the band, or a member whose membership has lapsed.

A band "member" is an individual who sits on the Board of Directors of the Adirondack Pipes and Drums, Inc. Members demonstrated musical proficiency sufficient to be nominated by the Pipe Major or Drum sargeant and then elected by the other members of the band. Membership is retained by participation in 50% of band functions during a season. Lapsed membership is renewed by repeating the membership process.
